In Exodus 23:20 we are promised, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." Christian Science teaches that angels are "God's thoughts passing to man" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 581), and I am grateful to God that wherever I have wandered in the world or in my thinking, His angel thought has led me to the proper understanding which has met my need.

I attended the Christian Science Sunday School from an early age, but upon leaving I was tempted to wander somewhat from its teachings, until a serious illness forced me to turn again to the angel thought that would lead me, through "the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality," as Mrs. Eddy further defines angels (ibid.). I was healed in one treatment of the approval of social drinking and smoking and of the desire for excitement and gay parties.

My strength was restored, and I returned to work, but the spiritualization of my thinking was a gradual growth and unfoldment which took more time. "Spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect" (ibid.) sustained me during this resurrection period. I turned wholeheartedly to the study of the Bible and Science and Health. One inharmonious condition recurred occasionally, but it only caused me to turn more earnestly to God for the angel thought which would heal me. After four year that inharmony ceased to recur. The complete healing took place over seven years ago and has been permanent.
