Signs of the Times

Ira W. Langston in Front Rank St. Louis, Missouri, reprinted from Forward, Park Avenue Christian Church New York, New York

Christianity is the religion of the good act. A person whose religion has no bearing on the decisions he makes and the acts he performs in his everyday life can scarcely be called Christian, for every choice we make and every deed we perform is an expression of the faith by which we live.

There is a constant conflict between our will and God's will. In each decision our sense of values is put to the test. Will I make this choice on the basis of my own personal desires or will I give precedence to the will of God? Herein lies, it would seem to me, the secret of Jesus' great power and righteousness. He never once allowed his selfish interests to dominate a decision or an act. He had complete faith in the Father, God, and lived consistently with that faith.
