An Active Membership and a Consecrated Staff

The Sunday School superintendent of one of our churches which is located in the downtown district of a very large city in the United States writes of the progress that has been made through enlisting the active interest and co-operation of the entire church membership in the Sunday School work. At a regular membership meeting the superintendent in a half-hour address presented the Sunday School situation to the members.

In her address she pointed to the need for special attention to the Sunday School in daily metaphysical work for the church. She pointed to the inquiring, searching attitude of youth, to their awareness of the chaos and turbulence in the world today, and to the fact that Christian Science alone can give them an answer of peace, security, and spiritual enlightenment. She stressed the fact that there are many opportunities to present the teachings of Christian Science to children of non-Science homes, and that each member should be alert, when wisdom directs, to acquaint the parents of children who are not attending any Sunday School with the privileges of the Christian Science Sunday School.

Notwithstanding the fact that many families have moved from the business district in which this church is located, with the active support of the church membership the Sunday School enrollment has increased more than fifty per cent in a little more than two years, and in that time there has been an increase of seventy per cent in average monthly attendance.
