Christian Science was introduced...

Christian Science was introduced to me at a time of utter despondency, for I was blind.

After all local specialists had pronounced me beyond help, I was taken to a clinic in Chicago, where I stayed for six weeks under the observation of twenty eye specialists. They told me I could not possibly regain my sight, for the hemorrhages which had caused the trouble had decayed the sight film and it had been carried away in the blood stream, leaving nothing for the medical profession to work with. They also said that I was tubercular and had best return to my home for the treatment of tuberculosis. They gave me only two years, at the most, to live.

For some months I grew weaker, and then I remembered Paul's wonderful statement in Philippians (4:13), "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." This passage sustained me for months, and as I pondered its meaning, somehow I got a glimpse of the healing Christ. I took new courage as I clung to this statement. It grew to be so much a part of me that I began to see light, and then, months later, I could see dim forms.
