One evening when I was making...

One evening when I was making fudge, the pan overturned, the contents covering my leg and foot. A Christian Science practitioner was called. When I told her what had happened, her reply was, "There are no accidents in Mind," and she lovingly took up the work for me. I feared that it was a third degree burn and that it would be several months before I would walk again.

While studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly I turned to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, where under the heading "Scientific Translation of Mortal Mind" (p. 115), and under the marginal heading "Reality" she writes as follows (p. 116): "Third Degree: Understanding. Spiritual. Wisdom, purity, spiritual understanding, spiritual power, love, health, holiness. In the third degree mortal mind disappears, and man as God's image appears." Also on page 454 I read: "Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching. Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way." When my consciousness was filled with the allness of good and I knew that Love surrounded me, my healing was complete.

I should like to take this opportunity to express gratitude for another experience I had when a crochet hook went through one of my fingers. Those around me thought it would be necessary to have medical aid; instead, a Christian Science practitioner was called, and work was taken up. The crochet hook was removed, and the healing was instantaneous. The finger was not bandaged, and that evening I attended the Wednesday evening testimony meeting.
