In Exodus 33:11 it is stated, "And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend." Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 308), "The Soul-inspired patriarchs heard the voice of Truth, and talked with God as consciously as man talks with man." We know from her writings that Mrs. Eddy received direct and audible guidance from God. It is probable that most sincere seekers of truth, certainly most Christian Scientists, have received direct answer to prayer.

Some years ago I thought it desirable to make a change in my business connections. I had been satisfactorily employed for a number of years, but it seemed to me that I should sever those relations and open an office myself. I sought the assistance of a Christian Science practitioner, and work was done for some time.

One evening when I went to talk the problem over with the practitioner, she recommended that we both turn silently to God and ask His help. We did. I turned to God with direct appeal and told Him I needed help to know what was best; that I alone was responsible for two daughters, one of whom was in college. I further stated that my position was pleasant and my income would be larger the next year than ever before. The answer came at once as silently as I had appealed, "You have outgrown that," and it came with such suddenness and clarity that I was startled. After pondering the message, I told the practitioner, and we both felt that the way had been pointed out.
