Having been a student of Christian Science...

Having been a student of Christian Science for eighteen years, I wish to express my gratitude to God, "which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number" (Job. 5:9). I am grateful for countless healings, unfoldments, and demonstrations.

I came into Christian Science in 1931 during the so-called depression, when everything seemed hopeless. I was sick with worry, fear, and desperation. When Christian Science was suggested to me, I was skeptical that it could solve my problems. My hands shook so I could hardly hold our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read and read, understanding nothing. One day I suddenly realized my hands were steady and I was calm and poised. Then I knew I had found God; I had "touched the hem of his garment." Since then each day has brought new riches in health, finances, and human relations.

One of my most treasured demonstrations is that of finding a house and a studio. When I was unexpectedly notified to vacate my studio, where I had taught for fifteen years, I was momentarily stunned, as downtown office space was unavailable to musicians. I applied Christian Science and had a most happy solution by keeping in thought, "Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches" (Prov. 24:3, 4); also Christ Jesus' statement, "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow" (Matt. 6:28). There were many obstacles, but all were overcome, and divine Love led me to a house, with studio, which meets every requirement, and which was bought several thousand dollars under the original price asked.
