In accordance with the By-Law, Section 1 of Article XXX of the Manual of The Mother Church, a Normal class has recently been held by the Christian Science Board of Education. The class convenes on the first Wednesday of December in each third year.

The teacher of the 1949 class was Richard J. Davis, C. S. B., of San Jose, California. Mr. Davis has been a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship for many years, and also has had long experience as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. The class, which as usual numbered thirty pupils, was made up of the pupils of twenty-eight different teachers. They came from many states in the United States and from countries abroad as follows: Australia, England, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, and Texas.

From a new member comes a helpful letter from which the following excerpt is taken: "Words can never fully describe the great happiness that I hold knowing that I am now a member of The Mother Church. Already it is proving to be a magnificent opportunity and a joyous necessity for my growth in Science. To me membership is a high standard to live up to, but certainly a most joyous one, and it really gives me great happiness."
