I am very grateful for Christian Science

I am very grateful for Christian Science. In 1938 I left my home country and my dearly loved family to sail with my husband to South Africa, where it was hoped the warmer climate would benefit his health. His condition had been diagnosed by medical doctors and a specialist as diseased kidneys, and for months he was in a very poor state of health.

One day a friend spoke to him of Christian Science, and he agreed to visit a practitioner instead of a medical specialist, as was previously intended. Never shall I forget the change in his appearance and the joy he expressed on his return from that visit to a Christian Science practitioner! For that alone I can never cease to be grateful. His whole outlook had changed. He at once gave up his strict diet, and during the following months he enjoyed better health and more freedom than he had for years.

However, he did not appear to seek with sincerity the method by which his healing had been effected, and when, later, he was attacked with a distressing physical condition, he chose to be taken to hospital. A member of the Christian Science church lovingly called on me and encouraged me to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I took up the book the moment she left and was about to put on the glasses which I wore for all close work and in cinemas when something told me I did not need them. I have never worn them since, and my eyes have not troubled me.
