Many years ago Christian Science came into my life quietly, persuasively, and naturally. I was appointed to the position of organist in the branch church of which I am now a grateful member. For several years no part of the services reached my consciousness. Human modes and ambitions, old theology, and faith in matter for healing overshadowed a love of good and limited true usefulness. However, the beautiful example of Christliness expressed by a practitioner, the peacefulness of the services, and the membership's generous, spontaneous appreciation of the organ playing gradually lifted this heaviness of mortal thinking.

In proportion as thought was drawn Spiritward, Love revealed and provided for the steps to be taken. A brother, interested in my profession but not in Christian Science, gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which he had found among some discarded books at his place of business. It was not the last edition. So, when I mentioned to an alert member my puzzlement at not being able to find the correct citations as they appeared in the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, he offered me a new copy in exchange for the old one. From then on I earnestly studied the Lessons.

How heavenly were those early views, as the truth began to appear in thought. The ridicule of the family made no impression on me. Was not I on the way to satisfying a hunger and thirst for righteousness?
