Christian Science was presented to our family by a veteran of the Civil War who had been healed of the effects of a bullet wound through the application of the truths taught in this divine Science. At the time we knew him, this man must have been well along in years, but his calm, quiet joyousness, his vigor and alertness, and his gentle kindness made us realize that he possessed a faith which our other acquaintances did not have.

Our need for the understanding of Christian Science was very great at the time that this friend brought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to our home. Through the years since then we have had many wonderful proofs that Christian Science heals disease and removes inharmonious and discordant conditions when it is rightly applied to any problem.

At a time when home, family, and security seemed no longer to be with me I was distinctly conscious of God's loving guidance as I was led to a new home. I thought often during this experience of Abraham's search for a city which had foundations, and I came to realize that as I sought the sure foundation of Truth on which to build my sense of home, occupation, friendships, church activities, I was in truth richly blessed.
