NO BIG POWER VETO

One hears much these days on the subject of big power veto in regard to the decisions of the United Nations. Many feel that this veto power should be eliminated so that true democracy may be established among nations. In order that our prayers for world peace may be most effective, might it not be well for us to examine carefully whether we are accepting the belief of some little power veto in our daily affairs?

False theology, superstition, and so-called material science assert that matter and evil can veto the mandates of divine Mind, can annul the laws of eternal harmony. Christian Science is awakening the world to see that God is supreme, and that He does not share His omnipotence with the opposite of Himself, called evil. It is preparing the way for mankind to see that the so-called veto power of matter and evil is only false belief and can be repealed by the recognition of the supremacy of God, good.

Christ Jesus demonstrated these simple spiritual facts in his every daily experience. When he met a paralyzed man at the pool of Bethesda and commanded, "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk," he knew that divine Mind was supreme and that neither matter nor a physical body had the power to veto this mandate of Mind. The man arose whole and strong. On another occasion Jesus commanded one with a withered hand, "Stretch forth thine hand;" and when the man stretched forth his hand, it was whole. It was proved that the hand had not the ability to reverse or resist the dictate of Christ, Truth, even the same truth which Jesus said would make men free.
