Having read with interest the editorial entitled "The Golden Anniversary of the Sentinel" in the issue of August 28, 1948, I am prompted to write this testimony. It was fifty years ago, in May, 1899, shortly after my first healing in Christian Science, that a testimony of mine appeared in the Sentinel.

Christian Science was presented to me by a former schoolmate. I had scarcely heard the words "Christian Science" and was amazed when my friend told me that it had healed her of dyspepsia. Because I was afflicted with the same difficulty, I went to The Christian Science Publishing Society, which then occupied rooms in a block of houses on Falmouth Street, and purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I could hardly understand a paragraph of the book and laid it aside. But my condition finally became so severe that I decided to ask for help from a Christian Science practitioner, who proved to be an early student of Mrs. Eddy's. I began immediately to feel the beneficial effects of her treatment, but it was several months before I was completely healed. By this time I was attending the Sunday services in the Original Mother Church, also the testimony meetings, held then on Friday evenings. I rejoiced in my new-found freedom and soon became a member of The Mother Church.
