THE POWER OF TRUTH AND LOVE

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Whether it be a problem involving home relations, business standards, school life, or church affairs we can through spiritual understanding always successfully meet the issue. We demonstrate the healing power of Truth and Love by affirming and understanding the allness of God as taught in Christian Science. Even though the way seems dark to material sense, divine Love is always present, and we have but to turn honestly and wholeheartedly to God to find the right solution. "God will 'furnish a table in the wilderness' and show the power of Love," says the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 9 of her book "No and Yes."

The instantaneous healing of Simon Peter's mother-in-law, the redemption of the woman taken in adultery, the raising of the little girl declared dead by her household, are but a few of the Master's marvelous proofs of the power of Truth and Love. Christ Jesus' admonition to the disciples to "cast the net on the right side," that is, to turn away from the material sense of things and to see the man of God's creating, existing at the point of perfection, manifesting His completeness and well-being, shows clearly what we must do if we would prove the healing power of God for ourselves and others. Our great Way-shower understood that the real man is the beloved idea of his Father-Mother God. This truth understood has spiritual power.

The mission of Christ Jesus was to teach us to love. His reply to the Pharisaical lawyer regarding the Mosaic Decalogue can be succinctly summed up in two commandments, namely, Love God supremely and love thy neighbor as thyself. And he added, "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Mrs. Eddy must have felt deeply on this subject, for she speaks many times in her writings of love for one's neighbor. On page 88 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," she states, "To love one's neighbor as one's self, is a divine idea; but this idea can never be seen, felt, nor understood through the physical senses."
