Finds God, home, and supply. Healed of severe gastritis
It is about time I testified to the heading power of Christian Science. I suffered from a catarrhal condition resulting in severe gastritis; I was allowed to eat few things, and even after taking every precaution, I suffered to the extent that I would lie in spasms for half a day. I also had paralysis of the bowels, frequent severe sick headaches, and female trouble. I had been in bed for a long time, and various doctors admitted that they had exhausted their resources.
A friend sent a Christian Science practitioner to visit me. I knew nothing of this Science. The practitioner asked me to read the ninety-first Psalm. The words, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty," stayed with me. She sent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. That night I read until I fell asleep. I had suffered for years from insomnia, but that night I rested like a child and awoke the next morning well and happy. The peace "which passeth all understanding" rested upon me, and joy too deep for words transformed my life. My prayer was answered, for I had found God.
The physicians had stated that I could not carry another child. Later, when I found I was going to have one, I saw it was up to me to prove that I was a Christian Scientist. On page 192 of Science and Health I read: "We are Christian Scientists, only as we quit our reliance upon that which is false and grasp the true. We are not Christian Scientists until we leave all for Christ." Science and Health was my only physician until thirty minutes before an almost painless childbirth. I did my housework up to the time I was confined and was in perfect health. I was up the following day and going everywhere in two weeks.
