MAN'S BIRTHRIGHT
Two great facts stand out in the first chapter of Genesis. First, God created the universe and man in His own image and likeness, bestowing on man the birthright of dominion; and secondly, He pronounced His creation good. Christian Scientists accept this record of creation as the true account. That God, Spirit, is infinitely good and that His creation reflects abundant good, they prove by their healing works.
Describing man's true estate, Mary Baker Eddy in "Miscellaneous Writings" says on page 181: "When we understand man's true birthright, that he is 'born, not ... of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God,' we shall understand that man is the offspring of Spirit, and not of the flesh; recognize him through spiritual, and not material laws; and regard him as spiritual, and not material."
The man of God's creating dwells in the realm of Spirit, in the consciousness of divine Love. His only home is heaven, harmony; his only experience the unfoldment of good. Never for an instant has he been absent from his Father-Mother, God, nor lacking the Father's blessing. He forever expresses health, harmony, and dominion. His spiritual birthright is intact, for nothing can disrupt the relationship of God and man.
