Shock and grief overcome, also craving for cigarettes

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy" (Ps. 107:2). Obediently, with a sincere desire to bless, I give grateful testimony to the wonders that have been wrought for me through the study and application of Christian Science.

I was healed of grief and horror over the tragic passing on of my mother by reading the chapter on Prayer, the first chapter in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. At the same time I was convinced that Christian Science supplies the answers to many questions about God and the Bible teachings which the theology of the orthodox Protestant church of which I was then a member had failed to answer.

For a long time I looked upon Science as a beautiful and satisfying religion, but I was skeptical of its claim to heal in this age as Jesus had healed centuries ago. The time came, however, when I was to experience proof that the mere acceptance of its teachings heals illness, for I did not then have any understanding of Christian Science. Tonsillitis, which I had had one or more times each winter from early childhood, was permanently overcome in one day just by my reading the Bible and Science and Health.
