A healing of homesickness. A singer's voice restored

[Original testimony in German]

My heart is overflowing with thanks to God that He led me to Christian Science.

About fifteen years ago, when I was staying in the United States of America, which I loved very much, I suffered a great deal from homesickness. I lived in New York City. One day I visited a friend in Boston. It was a lovely Sunday morning, and the sun was shining brightly. The whole country was celebrating Independence Day. To complete this picture of a blessed Sunday, I heard some church bells ringing is the distance. The sound of these bells so touched my heart that they seemed to say to me in my native tongue, "Home, home, home." I asked my friend if we could not follow the sound of the bells, and in doing so, we came upon a church. In the foyer of this church we read the inscription, "God is Love." The service had just ended, and my friend told me, "These people are Christian Scientists, who heal through God." The words "through God" seemed to me like a tale from childhood, but childhood and its blessed innocence seemed at that moment very far off indeed.

From that day on my whole life began to change. I returned to New York to take a new position. There, a fortnight later, my attention was again called to Christian Science. I went to a Reading Room where a Herald of Christian Science [German Edition] was kindly given to me. When I had read this Herald, I looked up a practitioner in order to learn something about God. I suffered no more from homesickness and was able a year later to return to Germany, indescribably happy to take to my relations the glad tidings of Christian healing.
