True sense of substance and proportion cures overweight
I have been studying Christian Science for about fifteen years, active and constructive years in which many lessons have been learned and much good experienced. The only real joy is that inner peace and gladness which results from the understanding and practice of Christian Science, from the heart singing with gratitude for the knowledge of God's perfection and of one's true identity as His beloved child.
Many desires for merely material pleasures have faded away as a clearer idea of what constitutes life and real being has been seen and made my own. A sense of hurry has been replaced, to a large extent, by one of calm and quiet gained from learning that the only life is eternal Life, with no beginning or ending, no age or decay. A strong tendency to criticism, as well as impatience, which caused me much unhappiness, is giving way to forbearance and compassion. I am learning to think more logically and lucidly on all matters, thus more correctly estimating what is worth while and what is valueless; and I am learning that our real being is expressed in serving and not, as mortal mind would have us believe, in doing and getting everything for ourselves.
I am trying to realize that all those around me in everyday experience are also God-governed. This has helped me in driving a car, for I have seen that it is egotism to claim that I am controlled and governed by God and others on the road are not thus privileged.
