Effort to understand textbook completely transforms a life
After eight years of membership in The Mother Church and in a Christian Science Society, I am grateful and happy to testify to main healings in Christian Science.
In 1940 I began to study Christian Science and to attend the services because a friend invited me. At first I did not understand what I heard, but was deeply impressed by the simplicity, quietness, dignity, promptness, and brevity of the service. Even though I did not understand the spiritual side of the service, I continued to attend.
I soon purchased the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. While I enjoyed reading the book, I could not understand how reading it could heal sickness without a medical doctor's aid. I continued to read, but with no understanding of its spiritual impetus.
