Church Dedications

Indio News
Indio, California (Society).
Dedication services for the recently built church edifice of Christian Science Society, Indio, were held at the church on Sunday, January 16, 1949. Two services were held, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, at which the following historical sketch of the growth of the church was read by the First Reader:
The history of Christian Science Society, Indio, goes almost as far back as that of Coachella Valley itself. Among the pioneers who came to this area early in the century and began the heroic task of reclaiming the desert were a number of Christian Scientists scattered at wide distances over almost roadless stretches of sandy wilderness. These students soon began gathering on Sundays at the various ranch homes to read together the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly.
