Smallpox and other ills healed. Relationships unsnarled by Truth

It is with deep happiness that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. There is no problem so great, no situation so complicated, no sickness so serious that an understanding of God, as taught in Christian Science, cannot heal it.

My mother became a student of this Science shortly after I was born. She was the only student of this religion in the small far-western town to which we moved, and hers was a constant struggle with the opinions and prejudices of a narrow-minded town which would countenance no such "foolishness."

I remember several major childhood healings during this period. I was brought back from what appeared to be certain death from scarlet fever when my mother sat up all night holding me in her arms and praying and reading from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My younger sister was quarantined for smallpox and was healed through my mother's understanding of Science. So beautifully did she handle the belief of contagion that none of the family either manifested or feared the disease, and the pockmarks on my sister's face and body disappeared completely.
