Acute pain expelled and prevented by power of Love

I have recently been awakened to the greater harmony that can be obtained by stricter obedience to the Manual of The Mother Church. In Article VIII, Section 24, of that book, our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says, "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important."

Over thirty years ago our firstborn, a five-pound premature boy, when only six weeks old was sentenced to die. Three physicians diagnosed the case as intestinal poisoning. A friend who told us Christian Science had healed him asked us to try it for the baby. We knew this friend was in excellent health at the time, whereas we had known him to be in the last stages of tuberculosis a few years before. Willing to try anything to help the baby, we took him to a practitioner. She asked us to give him no more drugs, which had been given him to induce sleep. The baby slept that night and far into the next day. In five days he was normal. As a young man he served two years in the Navy during the recent war.

This healing awakened my faith in God's power to heal now as in Jesus' time, and later my daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly gradually established some understanding of Christian Science in my consciousness. I thank God sincerely for the practitioners who stood by us so steadfastly in the problems of raising our four children. With the last two I experienced quick, painless births.
