Healing results from reading textbook

In my early study of Christian Science the testimonies in the periodicals were an inspiration to me, as I had been reared in the belief that God healed through prayer. So now I would like to share some of the blessings which this Science has brought to my family.

Soon after I began to study Science we moved to a mining town, and to my knowledge I was the only one there who knew about it. I had a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but I did not seem to understand it, although I never doubted that every word Mrs. Eddy had written was the truth.

I had an occasion to prove that Truth does heal and that God is the only intelligence. One Sunday our small daughter was taken very ill with a high fever. I was alone at the time, and I did not know whether or not to call the company doctor. But since I had been taught to pray for the sick, I felt that I could not have a doctor, as I had no faith in material remedies.
