Marion, Ohio (First Church). Services of dedication in the morning and afternoon on Sunday, September 26, 1948, for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Marion, call attention to the history of the congregation here and to the building of the present church edifice.

Laying of the cornerstone of the church was an event of April, 1928. First services were held in the church in November of that year.

Seven persons comprised the first Christian Science study group in Marion. They met first in October, fifty-three years ago. With continuing growth and increasing activity of the group, it was found necessary from time to time to change to larger quarters in various locations. When the first public service was held on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1896. the congregation was meeting in rooms in the Fisher Block, next to the Marion County Bank.
