It is high time that I expressed my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science. I have been a student for over thirty-five years and have experienced many healings.

Before I knew anything of Christian Science, I suffered periodically from neuralgia and sick headaches. Two types of headache were permanently healed. The first healing was of bilious headaches that amounted eventually to yellow jaundice. This healing was brought about by a practitioner instantaneously in 1911. I had asked for help at the recommendation of an older brother. I knew practically nothing of Christian Science, and there is no doubt that this experience made a deep impression and helped me to take up the study of Science later on. There has been no recurrence of the difficulty. The other healing, of ordinary sick headache, which at that time had continued for twenty-four hours, came about through an absent treatment given by an older sister after I called her on the telephone. This healing was also instantaneous and permanent, and one can readily imagine my relief and gratitude when he knows that at that time I was caring for an older sister, an aged father, and two small daughters.

Torn ligaments in my left knee, which I had experienced at the age of eleven years, had resulted in dislocations. That trouble, together with a so-called inherited inflammatory rheumatism, was permanently healed by the reading and daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly after all three of our children were born. That week the Lesson contained the following reference from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 178): "Heredity is not a law. The remote cause or belief of disease is not dangerous because of its priority and the connection of past mortal thoughts with present. The predisposing cause and the exciting cause are mental." After this healing I played ball with the children.
