UNDIMMED, THEREFORE UNDYING

At the most momentous period of his career Christ Jesus gathered together his disciples at the feast of the Passover. His first thought at that crucial hour was of love for those who, as he well knew, might soon be as sheep without a shepherd. scattered as a frightened flock "in the cloudy and dark day" (Ezek. 34:12). To material sense it was a sad occasion, but it presented an opportunity for them to rise superior to the claims of death and thus engrave an indelible record of immortality on the heart of humanity.

The vista of eternal life opened up by Jesus through his resurrection and ascension has left an impression that can never be erased. Living as we do nearly two thousand years after the events, we are nevertheless aware that the way blazed by the Master is one for every student of Christian Science to follow.

Christ Jesus did not reach the meridian of his spiritual career by unordered stages. A study of the four Gospels reveals the orderly unfoldment of each successive step. The scientific way to establish any newly discovered fact is to prove it by demonstration. Every discoverer of note has followed this line of action. Jesus was no exception to the rule. He worked out progressively every problem as it was presented, and this is especially noticeable in his demonstrations of Life over death. He proved step by step the truths he had enunciated.
