ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE

Christian Science challenges mankind to throw off the shackles of the limitations, diseases, and sorrows of human experience. Its Discoverer, Mary Baker Eddy, explains this Science as follows (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 160): "To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science." The challenge so to live confronts us here and now, every minute of every day. Let us look at it squarely.

Instead of simply enduring the sufferings that limited material sense claims for mortals, let us turn away from this false personal sense to the eternal truths regarding God and man's relationship to Him. The real man and his Maker coexist. Man is related as son to the one Father-Mother, as reflection to Mind, as manifestation to God. He is the individually complete expression of the wholly good nature of his creator.

Mortal man is found to be merely a dream image, an illusion, a false, limited concept of man. We can prove these great facts practical in human affairs by living them, by accepting their challenge and remaining unmesmerized by what lying, limited, material sense claims is man. Thought that is enlightened by Christian Science must be persistent in adhering to the uninterrupted oneness of God and man. Omnipotent Mind supports this righteous endeavor, for it is the appearing of man's God-given dominion.
