"The Lord hath appeared of old...

"The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee" (Jer. 31:3). How beautifully those words were proved to me many years ago! A testimony of mine was published in the Sentinel of October 16, 1915, telling of my first experience with Christian Science. It is my desire again to express my heartfelt gratitude to God and to share the many blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, which has been my only help for thirty-seven years.

Soon after my first healing I discovered that I had a goiter. I had been suffering for some time, but did not know what the trouble was. As soon as a friend told me what it was, I sat down and with childlike confidence turned to God and worked mentally for about twenty minutes in the way that I had learned to do through my brief study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I then went about my work, and in about two hours I discovered that the condition was completely gone. It never returned.

I have been healed of colds and of burns, sometimes instantaneously without a blister. In 1935 I fell and broke my arm. A practitioner was called, and I was healed completely in three days. In 1924, after I had suffered for fifteen hours with ptomaine poisoning, I picked up Science and Health and walked the floor reading. I turned to pages 476 and 477 and read that beautiful statement: "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." When I finished reading, I was healed. My joy was so great that I sang songs for two hours.
