Christian Science came to me in answer to prayer. From the time I was a little child I had sought a scientific explanation of God and of His creation. My human heart was famished and dissatisfied. I used to pray constantly, and often in tears and anguish. The text of my prayer was always, Give me more of Jesus and his love. I know, now, that I was praying for Christian Science, for only this Science could explain God, who is divine Love; only this Science could clear up the ambiguities of the religious beliefs which I had been taught. "Christian Science explains all cause and effect as mental, not physical. It lifts the veil of mystery from Soul and body. It shows the scientific relation of man to God, disentangles the interlaced ambiguities of being, and sets free the imprisoned thought" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 114). Thus Science has brought not only the theology of Jesus for which I prayed, but his Science and his medicine also.

My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded. and there are not words or human language with which to express my thanks for this wonderful divine gift.

There have been many healings in my experience. I was healed in one treatment of uterine hemorrhage. My husband had carried me upstairs a few days before this, and I had stayed in bed. When I felt so ill that I thought I should pass on, I telephoned for help. The practitioner came and sat with me for some time. When she left I followed her downstairs and stood at the front door chatting as any hostess would do to a departing visitor; and when she had gone, I ran back upstairs, It was not until then that I realized I had been healed.
