Up to the time Christian Science...
Up to the time Christian Science was presented to me by a friend, I had been working as faithfully as I knew how in an orthodox church of which I was a member. I had always found joy in teaching in the Sunday School, and the Bible study in connection with the prescribed lessons was a source of happiness.
After my first reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I found that I could not go on with the Sunday School work, because in the light of Christian Science the teaching and practice of Jesus took on such a different meaning.
Soon I took my stand and applied for my letter from the church. I had found the pearl of great price and desired above all else to give up everything which seemed to hinder my progress in Christian Science. My days were still very busy, but there was time for the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly every morning, and the courage and enlightenment which came to me more than paid for the temporary loss of activity in the church work.
