Out of deep gratitude to God for...

Out of deep gratitude to God for His love and for the spiritual progress gained through many healing experiences, I offer this testimony in the hope that it may encourage others.

Having come from a ministerial background, I had eagerly listened in my childhood to much discussion of theological subjects by clergymen visiting in our home, but I was not satisfied with what I heard. Hence my unceasing quest for Truth led me into a further search of religions and philosophies. These, too, failed to bring the desired satisfaction or peace of mind for which I had been seeking. After my family moved away, a friend recommended that I read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Although I could grasp but little of its spiritual meaning, its logic held my interest, and many trips were made to the Christian Science Reading Room, where a loving librarian answered my many questions.

Proof that Christian Science heals came to me shortly thereafter. While on vacation I received a spinal injury occasioned by a fall from a horse. The complete healing took place months later at one of our church services. However, for several years my reading of the textbook was again spasmodically interspersed with what Mrs. Eddy calls "the sophistry of intellect," when she writes in "No and Yes" (p. 11), "Revelation must subdue the sophistry of intellect, and spiritualize consciousness with the dictum and the demonstration of Truth and Love."
