The Mother Church Transcribed Radio Programs

At least six million people each week are hearing the fifteen-minute Christian Science religious programs produced and transcribed in The Mother Church—many through this avenue for the first time learning something of the healing gospel which is destined to save the world.

The words of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 129 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," are peculiarly applicable to this activity, when we consider her use of the word "broadcast." Here she writes: "I reluctantly foresee great danger threatening our nation,— imperialism, monopoly, and a lax system of religion. But the spirit of humanity, ethics, and Christianity sown broadcast—all concomitants of Christian Science—is taking strong hold of the public thought throughout our beloved country and in foreign lands, and is tending to counteract the trend of mad ambition."

When The Mother Church transcribed programs were initiated in the fall of 1944, they were broadcast over approximately sixty-four radio stations in the United States. This number has grown steadily until at the present time more than four hundred stations in the United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and the Canal Zone), Canada, Cuba, Bermuda, New Zealand, and all of the states in Australia, are carrying the programs. It is expected that the number of stations will continue to grow as opportunities unfold and as expansion is made possible In generous support of the Radio Fund of The Mother Church by Christian Scientists and branch churches throughout the Field
