The Secret of Greatness

From an editorial in The Free Press London, Ontario, Canada

Christ [Jesus] brought to the world a new conception of greatness. He said the ranks of the true aristocracy are to be found in those who serve; those who are fully awake to the needs of others; those who in the spirit of self-forgetfulness, and who with no desire for self-recognition, self-praise, or prestige give themselves in unselfish service. St. Paul said of Jesus, "[He] made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant." But what about it? St. Paul adds, "Wherefore God ... hath highly exalted him." Herein lies the secret of greatness for us all. When will men and nations find this path to power and resolve to walk in it? When they do we shall find true peace.
