"THOU GOD SEEST ME"
When
Hagar in the wilderness,
Weeping, and blinded by her tears,
Lacked water for her only son,
An angel message calmed her fears:
Fear not, for God knows every need.
She must have listened, for she heard;
And then her eyes were opened wide,
For she had hearkened to God's Word.
Self-pity gone, Hagar arose,
Seeing a well of water there,
Lifted the lad and gave him drink,
Rejoicing in her answered prayer.
"Thou God seest me," her heart rejoiced.
Full many a heart has sung this song,
Feeling God's presence through the dark
When good outshines the sense of wrong.
