That "divine Love always has...

That "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494) was proved to me a good many years ago, and of course is still being proved daily.

Our young daughter was riding in a small horse show when her horse plunged through a fence and fell heavily. I jumped from the car and ran across the field to her, repeating "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468). When I reached her, the visible manifestations were terrifying. She was unconscious. I was advised to get her to the hospital immediately, and as we were twenty miles from home and only a few miles from the hospital, I accepted the offer of a ride in a station wagon. When we got to the hospital, the doctors stated that there was a concussion, and she was put to bed immediately. My husband is not a Scientist and insisted that I leave her there. The X ray taken the next day showed that she had crushed five vertebrae in her spine. The doctor ordered that she should be kept on her back with the bed elevated so that her spine was raised just below her shoulders.

A Christian Science practitioner had been called and worked faithfully. After about three weeks our daughter was brought home in an ambulance with a medical nurse in attendance and put to bed at home in a hospital bed in the same position. After a week the medical nurse was dismissed. A few days later the child asked if she could sit up or get up. Her own nurse, a Christian Scientist, who had been with her since she was a tiny tot, told her that if she wanted to she could get up. She got out of bed, and when she found herself on her feet, danced around the room for joy. She was very happy to find that she was completely healed. The iron braces which the doctor had ordered for her were never used. A few days later she went back to the hospital for another X ray and an examination by the doctor. The doctor admitted that the X ray showed that she was completely healed, but he warned that unless she wore the brace she might have serious difficulties later in life. The doctor was very much surprised at her complete recovery.
