Christian Science is the measuring...

Christian Science is the measuring rod by which I am striving to regulate my life, and words are inadequate to express my gratitude for it. I am grateful to God for our precious Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for all her God-inspired writings.

I became interested in this Science when every human avenue for peace of mind seemed closed to me. Through the breaking up of my home, my fourteen-year-old son and I were obliged to live with relatives. I had never had any experience in the business world, and I was filled with fear and resentment and was miserably unhappy. At this time a close friend had a visit from a sister, who came to clear up some unjust legal proceedings that had been forced upon her. She was a Christian Scientist, and the fortitude and courage she displayed were an inspiration to me. She invited me to join her in studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and we attended church together.

I purchased copies of the Bible, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the current Quarterly and began in earnest to study and apply the best I knew how what I gained each day from that study. Through gratitude I subscribed to all the periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor, at a time when I could very easily have used the money for other needs. But I am grateful that I was obedient, for through the periodicals and especially the Monitor, I have gained an enlarged sense of our Leader as the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
