EVERYDAY LESSONS FROM BIBLE STUDY

Every day presents its problems to men and women for which they seek solutions. The problem may be one of sickness, sin, or even death. It may be a problem involving finances or one concerned with people working or living together. The Bible relates many experiences illustrating how people have been freed from all kinds of difficulties through a spiritual understanding of God and complete reliance upon Him. The book of Job tells such a story.

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, shows the sincere seeker for Truth how to interpret spiritually the Bible messages. Through the revelation of Christian Science he can better understand the experience of Job, as well as other events set forth in the Bible.

Job, "the greatest of all the men of the east" (Job 1:3), was a righteous man, generous, and of great wealth. He loved God and hated iniquity. One day Job's beloved sons and daughters and their servants were killed; their possessions too were destroyed. This experience would seem to be trouble enough, but it was not the end for this good man, for we read that Job was smitten "with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown" (Job 2:7). Indeed, he seemed to be in the worst possible condition. Self-righteousness and self-pity filled his thought.
