Bedford, Indiana (Society).

Christian Science Society, Bedford, at 1407 L Street, was dedicated at special services on Sunday morning, November 9, 1947.

The services included the reading of the church history. In 1910 each of two students learned of the interest of the other in Christian Science, and they began to read the Lesson-Sermon together. Others became interested and joined them. Regular weekly meetings were held in homes until 1912, when the group became an authorized Christian Science Society, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist.

Sunday morning services were held in the rooms of Bedford Business University. The need for Wednesday evening testimony meetings and also for a Sunday School was soon apparent, and rooms for the exclusive use of the society were obtained in 1913. Since that time services have been held without interruption.

The Winstandley home on the present site was acquired in April, 1934. Remodeling began at once, and such rapid progress was made that the first service in the new building was held on July 3.
