"WHY WEEPEST THOU?"

It was when mortal sense was claiming to have sealed him forever in a tomb that Jesus experienced the glory of the resurrection. Similarly, when our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was ill and seemingly without hope, she discovered the Redeemer to be divine Life, the immortal and harmonious Principle of all life.

And now, today, is a sense of grief and loneliness at the loss of a dear one claiming to seal us in a tomb of sorrow? If so, it is time for a regeneration of consciousness. The angels of divine Love, await but the reaching out of our thought to say, as they said to Mary Magdalene (John 20:13), "Why weepest thou?" and to the women at the tomb (Luke 24:5, 6): "Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen." In other words, why look to matter and material sense for good?

Man is revealed in Christian Science to have always been the spiritual idea or expression of God, perfect Mind. He is not in matter. Material existence is but a series of false mental pictures mistakenly entertained; it is not the spiritual fact of being.
