Vacations Again

Vacations are coming, and we want them to be both happy and profitable. The weeks when the children are not in day school have been found by some Sunday School teachers to be an auspicious time to interest them in some Bible reading that will increase their understanding and appreciation of the Sunday School lessons and enhance the joy of their vacation.

Children as a rule respond enthusiastically to an assignment of a Bible narrative when by way of introduction they are told something about the characters concerned, and especially when they are asked to look for something in it that will help them to understand and utilize the law of God in their own experiences. Bible stories that are new to the children often are specially appealing, although familiar ones may be reviewed with fresh inspiration. In some instances teachers find it advisable to select from the narratives those portions which are best suited to juvenile reading.

Of marked interest to boys and girls is the story of Joseph as related in Genesis. Children are won by the shepherd lad who, sold into slavery, surmounted many obstacles through his allegiance to God, good, and after becoming virtually a ruler in a great nation, took special occasion to bless those who had hated him.
