In the opening lines of the Preface...

In the opening lines of the Preface to our textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy tells us (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." Every day since our introduction to Christian Science has indeed been "big with blessings," for which I am sincerely grateful.

In reviewing the many lessons taught by our textbook, I find the one on how to handle fear outstanding. An article published in the Sentinel was very helpful in this respect. The thought expressed therein was that Truth effectively denies error by mentally replacing it with the facts of true being. The peace I have experienced through being able, to a marked degree, to eliminate fear about our children and about my husband while he was serving with the Merchant Marine during World War II, would alone be reason for boundless gratitude.

Because of the protection realized through the application of Christian Science, we are freer from physical ills than ever before. However, we have experienced in our family healings of ulcerated throat, chronic indigestion, colds, severe headaches, wounds caused by rusty nails, an abscessed toe, a heart condition, and other difficulties, some with the help of practitioners, some through our own work alone.
