"OUR FATHER"

There are few Christian people who on hearing the words "Our Father" would not at once recognize them as the opening words of the Lord's Prayer. Many of us have repeated them since our early childhood. But even now we understand but a little of their full meaning and all that they imply, for in these two words is indicated a most vital message of the Bible, one which Christ Jesus came to give us, and which in later years has been interpreted for us in greater fullness by Mary Baker Eddy.

These two simple words, which all can so easily remember, can form the starting point for all right thinking, and thus lead us to the solution of all our problems, no matter what they may be.

Who is it that we are addressing as "Our Father"? The answer is given to us in our Leader's spiritual interpretation, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p.16). If, therefore, God is our Father and our Mother, then we are the sons of God. But God is Spirit, and therefore His offspring, made in His image and likeness, as the Scriptures declare, cannot be material but must be spiritual, forever coexisting with Him as His manifestation.
