"God is Mind"

"God is Mind." What a revelation this was to me! Over four years ago physicians diagnosed my condition as double intestinal hernia, wet pleurisy, neuritis, sinus trouble, and fallen internal organs. One physician refused to operate, stating that I needed at least four months of hospital care in preparation for an operation. Another physician wanted to operate immediately, but under the circumstances did not give much hope for my life.

Then in my extremity I was told about Christian Science healing, and I called a practitioner. I told him that I felt that if my mind could be cleansed, my body would take care of itself. "But," he said, "God is Mind," and he also told me that God is Love. After he left I thought, Well, if God is Mind, He is very near me, and the only mistake I have made is in thinking wrongly and holding God responsible for these ailments. All I have to do is to think correctly about Him and what He has created. I did just this, and when the practitioner came to see me on the third day after I had called him, he found me up and dressed, happy and free. I felt divine Love's presence, and at last knew the peace "which passeth all understanding." Truly I had received "beauty for ashes."

I had not walked for six months, and many times I had said: "God, where are You? There must be some way that You can heal me, if You created me." I gratefully acknowledge that I found to my utmost satisfaction that Christian Science alone is this way. Whenever the least doubt presented itself to me about any of the statements made in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I got out my Bible and repeatedly found convincing evidence that the statements about God and man in Science and Health are fully substantiated in the Scriptures.
