Shrewsbury Chronicle
Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England (First Church).
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Shrewsbury, was formally dedicated at the morning and evening services held at Town Walls on Sunday, June 15, 1947. The church edifice, formerly known as the Ebenezer Chapel, and built in 1838, was purchased from the trustees of the United Methodist Church in 1938. The first Christian Science services were held there on June 12 of that year.
The First Reader read a short historical sketch of the development of Christian Science in Shrewsbury, of which the following is a brief summary, since its introduction by a visitor from the United States in 1902.
