When I was first told of Christian Science, I was much worried about a large cyst which had formed on my lip. I had been going to a doctor for treatment for some months, but he finally informed me that only an operation would cure me.

At that time my sister returned from England to our home in Australia and shocked the family by saying that she was keenly interested in Christian Science. When she saw how unhappy I was about the proposed operation on my lip, she asked me if I would like to try Christian Science. She offered very lovingly to take me to a practitioner. I could not see how I could benefit from a treatment without knowing exactly how Christian Science worked, and so in a rather negative frame of mind I went with her. After about my third visit to the practitioner I was completely healed and was deeply interested to find out just how this healing had come about. Those first seeds sown through the simple, logical statements of Truth were absorbed gratefully.

I had various healings about that time, of constipation, colds, headaches of a violent nature, and a badly infected bruise on my head. Later, I became impatient over an internal displacement and finally turned again to materia medica, undergoing in operation. Years later I had to demonstrate that Truth would permanently heal this problem and was grateful for the opportunity to do so.
