I have had definite proof that the healing truths and promises Jesus gave so many years ago operate today as surely as they did then.

In Matthew (11:28) we have this promise: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." When Christian Science was presented to me, we were indeed heavy laden and needed rest. My mother, because of an injury to her ankle, had spent six years seeking help and had had three operations performed on her ankle. Like the woman described in Mark (5:26 she "had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse"— so much worse that she had her foot amputated.

A short time later a friend came to our city and presented Christian Science to me in a dear, simple manner, I was receptive at once and was divinely guided to a practitioner, who gave me my first ray of hope that there was help to be had. He lent me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I began to study earnestly. At first the meaning of the book was difficult to grasp, but I soon gained a better understanding by attending the Wednesday evening testimony meetings. I shall always be grateful for the inspiring testimonies, which told of such positive proofs of healing.
