Laredo, Texas First (Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Laredo, was formally dedicated at the regular morning service on Sunday, May 9, 1948. The following brief history was read:

"In 1915 a few people in Laredo who had become interested in Christian Science began to hold meetings in private homes. Changes in meeting places were made from time to time as interest increased and the group became larger.

In July, 1922, Christian Science Society, Laredo, was recognized by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, and it was incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas.

The building site for the present church edifice, at 1819 Houston Street, was purchased in April, 1928, and the building constructed during the summer of 1930.

On May 9, 1947, an application was filed with The Mother Church to acquire the status of a church instead of a society. All necessary requirements having been met, the charter was changed, and this organization is now designated as First Church of Christ, Scientist, Laredo.—Laredo Times.
