Giving Evidence

Among the activities of the Christian Science church, founded by Mary Baker Eddy, is the giving of testimonies. These proofs of Truth's healing efficacy appear each month in The Christian Science Journal and each week in the Sentinel.

In addition to this printed evidence, a portion of the Wednesday meetings is devoted to the recital of healings that have been brought about through Christian Science. Members of the congregation who wish to express their gratitude rise and tell simply and briefly how this Science has healed them of disease, sin, lack, unhappiness, and various other inharmonious conditions.

Mrs. Eddy considered the giving of these testimonies of vital significance. And in the Church Manual she writes (Art. VIII, Sect. 24): "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)."
