It is with deepest gratitude that...
It is with deepest gratitude that I give this testimony of the wonderful experiences which have been mine since I became a student of Christian Science. The blessings have been numerous, but I shall mention a few of them. There have been trials as well as victories, but we know that every trial demands purification of thought and therefore means spiritual progress.
For the protection afforded in a car accident I am more than grateful. While I was driving across a cattle guard, lightning struck the fence so close by that I was rendered unconscious. I fell forward on the accelerator, and the car sped forward and jack-knifed in the rough ground. It rolled over two or three times and was a complete wreck. I realized what had taken place as I fell, but I had no thought of fear. Only the established fact that man is not subject to any material condition stood out clearly to me as the reality of being, and that was my last conscious thought. When consciousness returned, I walked five miles for help, and did not even feel shaken up.
On several occasions healings have been accomplished where doctors had pronounced the cases incurable. I have also witnessed healings of broken bones, some set by physicians, others left wholly to the operation of Truth. I am happy to state that those not set with material aid knit perfectly with considerably less trouble to the patient.
